Period 1: Introduction
By the end of this lesson, learners should be able to:
i. Define a pig
ii. Mention breeds of pigs
iii. State the terminologies used in pig production
iv. State the characteristics of pigs
Pigs are non-ruminant animals and they belong to the family called Sudal.
There are four main species of pigs: Sus sacrofa large white, West African dwarf pig, large black, Duroc jersey, etc.
Period 1: Introduction
By the end of this lesson, learners should be able to:
i. Define a dog
ii. State the terms used in dog husbandry
iii. State the importance of keeping dogs
iv. Mention the breeds of dogs
The dog (Canis ffamiliaric) is a domestic animal which is of great importance to human.
The dog is described as human best friend.
Dogs are kept for security purpose, as companion, for detection of objects, etc.
Period 1: Introduction
By the end of this lesson, learners should be able to:
i. Define sheep
ii. Mention the breeds of sheep
iii. List the terminologies used in sheep
iv. State the characteristics of sheep
Sheep belong to the class of small ruminant. Sheep has similar characteristics to that of goat in terms of digestive system and other internal structure. Breeds of sheep are: Yaukasa, Balami, Wabajo etc.
