Central Processing Unit (CPU) | Memory Unit | Logic Circuits I (Standard single logic gates) | Logic Circuits II (Alternative logic gates) | Computer Data Conversion | Concept of Computer Files | Handling Computer Files | Word processing
What is Central Processing Unit (CPU)? The computer does its primary work in a part of the machine we cannot see. This control center is called the central processing unit (CPU). The central processing unit converts data input to information output.
All computers, large and small, must have a central processing unit. The central processing unit consists of two parts, namely: The control unit (CU) and the arithmetic and logic unit (ALU). Each part has a specific function.
Kindly watch the following video on the definition and functions of the central processing unit.
In a computer architecture, the computer memory unit works closely with the central processing unit (CPU). The memory unit is of two types. They are random access memory (RAM) and read only memory (ROM).
