Explain the rise of water in a glass capillary tube using the kinetic theory.

Solution

Glass and water are composed of molecules. The force of attraction between water molecules and glass molecules are stronger than that among water molecules. Therefore, there is rise in a glass capillary tube. Capillary action is one of the effects of Surface Tension.
