Question 1 of 10

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) usually conducts Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in all subjects for students who have completed Senior Secondary School Education and obtained a minimum grade in at least six (6) or more subjects and JAMB 2012 GOVERNMENT is one of such subjects.

The subjects obtained from the senior secondary school education must be from either West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO). The minimum grade accepted by JAMB is not usually below a Credit. However, recently this has been reviewed up in some subjects to reflect the current reality including JAMB 2012 GOVERNMENT.

The two compulsory subjects in which a Credit grade is mandatory before a student is qualified to apply for UTME are English Language and Mathematics. A student is required to register for a minimum of four (4) subjects including the compulsory subjects. Other subjects are usually optional depending on the course of study in tertiary institution. Take a Quiz

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is a computer-based standardised examination for prospective candidates aspiring for any tertiary institution including Colleges of Education, Monotechnic, Polytechnics, and Universities.

Every candidate is expected to score a minimum overall score in all the subjects before he/she is considered for admission in any institution of choice. During the application, every candidate is expected to select two choices of institutions, namely first choice and second choice in which the former is a priority. Take a Quiz

Besides the minimum score in UTME, candidates are also required to write a post-UTME test in their respective institutions selected either as first choice and/or second choice. Each institution has different criteria and requirements different from the others even in the same course or department. It is important for candidates to do a background check before making an institution a first choice or second choice. This is very important because the institutions ultimately determine the candidate’s admission irrespective of his/her performances in SSCE or UTME. However, it is equally worth the effort to obtain good grades in the first two examinations. Take a Quiz
