Guidelines for Secondary School Laboratory Design

1. Primary administrative areas should be near the front or main entrance to the lab.
2. Storage areas should be near service entrance, accessible to the labs and support areas.
3. Hazardous or infectious lab areas are to be located as far as possible from the main entrance and administrative areas.
4. Break rooms, cafeteria, conference rooms are to be positioned as far as possible from odour-producing activities or contaminated areas.
5. Glassware and media preparation areas should be near and accessible to lab areas.
