PERIOD 1: GRAMMAR – CONSONANT CLUSTER AT THE BEGINNING AND AT THE END OF WORDS, PHRASES AND SENTENCES
Learning Objectives – By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Define consonant cluster.
Presentation
A consonant is a group of consonants with no vowels between them. At the beginning of a syllable (the smallest unit of speech that can be pronounced), the possible clusters are 1 to 3. While at the end of a syllable, the possible clusters are 2 to 4.
The longest possible cluster in English is three consonant sounds at the start, such as ‘splash’, and four at the end, as in ‘twelfths’.

What is nominalisation? Nominalisation simply means changing one part of speech to another so that it can be used in a sentence. The following video explains how nouns can be created from verbs and adjectives.

A demonstrative pronoun is a pronoun used to point out (or demonstrate) a noun. They point to specific things. They include this, that, these and those. They represent distance, singular or plural things.
